What is the main point of the story?
Bad things happen to good people.
Wonderful things happen to good people
To explain the importance of bamboo
To show how the moon was created
Once upon a time, there was a poor young man who lived with his wife in a very poor village near a fishing port.
Behind his tiny house was a big bamboo woods with many bamboos.
The man would go out to sea to fish every day while his wife stayed home.
They were very poor but had warm hearts and were kind gentle people.
They gave lots of candies and cookies to kids in their neighborhood who were always starved.
Since they didn't have anything to eat usually in their house.
But the man just came back from the sea so they had fish.
One day he came back from the sea and told his wife: "I see something shiny in the bamboo woods."
So they went to see what was shining among the dark bamboos and found one bamboo that was very shiny and beautiful.
They carefully cut it open and found a beautiful baby girl inside.
The woman said 'Look, I found a little tiny baby here in this bamboo.'
The man said 'Oh yeah, she is so beautiful. Since we don't have a baby, let's adopt her and raise her.'
They picked up the little baby girl with pink skin and shiny eyes  from the bamboo.
The man said 'Oh I found another shiny stuff.'
'What is it?'
Oh, this is a gold coin, I found.'
So they picked up the gold coin and went home.
Then they said 'Okay, let's buy beautiful clothes for the baby and give her enough food.'
So they went to town and came back with food and fed the baby.

They named the baby Kaguya and after that strange things kept happening.
Whenever they thought 'We would like to have a nice house so that our daughter Kaguya is going to enjoy more space,' they always found shiny bamboo in the backyard.
They cut bamboo and then always found gold coins there.
So they built a beautiful house and bought beautiful clothes for their daughter. And they started living very happily.

Kaguya became prettier and taller until she became a teenager.
Then she started looking up at the moon sometimes and crying.
Her parents asked her what happened but Kaguya didn't tell them anything about why she was crying.

When she reached seventeen years old, her beauty and nice gentle personality became famous.
Many young men wanted to marry her but Kaguya didn't want to marry anybody.
One day, the lord of that region heard about Kaguya's beauty and he came to see her, fell in love with her right away, and proposed to her but Kaguya looked sad and said 'No, I cannot marry you.'

One day it was a full moon and it was beautiful.
Kaguya was looking up the moon when she saw a beautiful ship coming down from the moon to her.
The ship finally arrived nearby her then four strong warriors with dignified faces and dignified manners came to Kaguya and said :
'Princess Kaguya, I am Lord Spring,'
'I am Lord Winter,'
'I am Lord Summer,'
'I am Lord Autumn.'
Then seven beautiful servant girls came behind them saying:
'Princess Kaguya, your Highness, I am Lady Monday,'
'I am Lady Tuesday,'
'I am Lady Wednesday,'
'I am Lady Thursday,'
'I am Lady Friday,'
'I am Lady Saturday,'
'I am Lady Sunday.'
'I am your servant, your highness. Your wish is my command.'
They bowed very gently toward Princess Kaguya.

The man called Lord Winter told the man and woman that Princess Kaguya is their king's daughter ruling the moon and they came here to bring her back to the moon because she's now seventeen years old.
And then beautiful music and smell filled with air.
Kaguya said goodbye to her parents and promised them that she would smile at them whenever they missed her by looking at the moon.
Then Princess Kaguya boarded a ship that gradually went up to the moon while everybody said goodbye to her.

The man and woman cried because they missed Kaguya so much so every day they looked at Moon talking to Kaguya "how are you. I miss you so much. I love you so much."
Then each time they say moon smiled.
